What the library is for
Background images and videos live in Post settings. This is the footage HeyCatch puts behind the posts it generates — your screen recordings, your office, your product on a desk — not finished posts.
A video you have already edited goes through Videos instead, where you upload it, pick the platforms and schedule it.
Two ways to fill it
Upload from your device, or search free stock inside HeyCatch and save the picks to the same library. Both end up in one grid and are used the same way.
- Images up to 10 MB — JPG, PNG, WebP.
- Video up to 50 MB — MP4, MOV.
- Drag files onto the card or pick them from Browse files.
Vertical footage works best, since posts are built at 9:16. Keep text out of the frame — captions are added on top.
How often your footage is used
One setting decides how much of your library ends up in posts, from stock only to your files only:
- Only auto — stock the whole time, your library is ignored.
- Mostly auto — your files appear now and then.
- Mixed — roughly half and half.
- Mostly mine — your files by default, stock when nothing fits.
- Only mine — nothing but your own footage.
Only mine with four files means the same four come round again quickly. Mixed is the safer setting until the library is big enough to carry a month of posts.
The grid
Everything you have added sits in one grid with a file count above it, filtered by All, Images or Videos. Each card shows the file name, its size and the day it was added.
Opening a file
A file opens with its preview, type, size and the exact time it was uploaded.
Under that are its categories — where this file is allowed to appear in your posts. A photo marked as a slideshow image is used in slideshows and nowhere else. Change the categories and save, or cancel and nothing moves.
Deleting
Delete asks first and names the file. It stops being used in new posts, and it cannot be undone. Posts that already went out with it stay as they are.
What to keep in it
Real footage of the thing you are selling beats a stock city street. A screen recording of the feature you are talking about, your own desk, the app open on a phone — all of it reads as yours, and none of it needs a shoot.
Add a few files whenever you have them. The setting above decides how fast they reach your posts.
